The Health and Safety at Word Act 1974 and the Control of asbestos at Work
Regulation 1987 make it the duty of every employer to ensure the health and
welfare of all employees.
The employer must identify the type of asbestos, make a risk assessment and
prepare a "method statement" for any work that may disturb asbestos containing
materials.
The setting up of an Asbestos register will form an effective part of a
companies Health and Safety procedures. Thus satisfying legal requirements and
reflecting a responsible approach.
